In separate statements released late on Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced that they have made serious progress in bringing a trio of key free-trade deals up for votes when lawmakers returns to Capitol Hill after Labor Day.
According to Reid, a breakthrough occurred when Republican leaders decided they’d allow a vote on Trade Adjustment Assistance program to take place separate from the FTA’s. TAA’s benefit American workers who lose their jobs to foreign workers due to an FTA.
