Obama Officials Dispatched To Hurricane Hit States

Various members of the Obama administration are traveling Tuesday to East Coast communities hit hard by Hurricane Irene to survey the storm’s damage.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will meet with local officials in North Carolina and Virginia. They are also scheduled to attend briefings at the states’ Emergency Operations Centers.

FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate will be appearing in Burlington, Vermont with the state’s Governor, Peter Shumlin, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) to survey damage via helicopter and meet with local personnel.

FEMA’s Deputy Administrator Rich Serino will also visit New Jersey and Connecticut.
