Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s status as GOP frontrunner is being threatened by the possibility of Texas Governor Rick Perry’s late entry into the Presidential race.
According to a new poll from Rasmussen reports, Romney leads the field with 22 percent among likely Republican voters, but is trailed closely by Perry, who takes 18 percent.
In June, prior to the inclusion of Perry in Rasmussen’s polls, Romney lead the field with 33 percent of the vote. His nearest challenger, Michele Bachmann, had 19 percent.
The poll was conducted on July 28th among 1,000 likely Republican primary voters.
