Now that he’s no longer considering running for President, Haley Barbour (R) can say what’s really on his mind.
That’s likely why the well-liked Mississippi Governor told conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham this morning that he thinks it’s time for the Tea Party crowd to accept a debt limit deal put forth on Monday by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).
Several conservative lawmakers in the House bristled yesterday after Boehner briefed them on the plan, which would raise the nation’s debt ceiling by $1 trillion in exchange for slightly more in spending cuts. The part conservatives don’t care for is the fact that Congress would have to vote again in six months to authorize another increase in the limit, as well as the fact that the measure would create yet another commission tasked with recommending further cuts.
