Former Pennsylvania Senator and 2012 presidential hopeful Rick Santorum (R) had some strong words for President Obama following his morning press conference in which he called on lawmakers to put aside their differences and raise the nation’s debt limit.

Santorum criticized Obama’s reluctance to discuss proposed entitlement reform and criticized the president’s rejection of a constitutional amendment to balance the budget.

“President Obama showed today that he is clearly in over his head…apparently we do need a balanced budget amendment for our leaders to do their jobs, because the President isn’t doing his,” said Santorum.

Santorum went on to criticize the president’s behavior in walking out of a bipartisan meeting with House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) earlier this week, saying it “has been sophomoric.”

“This is not leadership and it is clear that we need a balanced budget amendment here and now to ensure this critical work gets done,” Santorum added.
