Niko Alm has earned the right in Austria to wear a pasta strainer on his head for his driver license photo.

Amid public disbelief, the self-desribed “Pastafarian” litigated with the Austrian government for three years to justify his reliegious freedoms to openly practice his mock religion and demonstrate his allegiance by wearing religious dress on a government document.

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster began in 2005, in reaction to a Kansas school-board decision to teach intelligent design as an alternative to evolution. Since its founding, the Church has gained precedent as a mockery of religious pretexts worldwide.
