Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) will announce this weekend that he will run for the Republican nomination next year.
After weeks of consideration, McCotter reportedly decided to throw his hat into the ring after being urged on by a late-night cable talk show host (click here for more on that).
McCotter becomes the third member of the House to enter the race, joining Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and Ron Paul (R—Texas).
He will reportedly announce his bid on Saturday evening at the WAAM Freedom Fest, which is taking place in Whitmore Lake, Mich.
