White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters on Monday that a deal to reduce the nation’s deficit “remains possible.”
Carney called a meeting this morning between Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid “constructive.”
“Everyone in the room believes that a significant deal remains possible.”
Obama and Biden will meet with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) later this afternoon. The President, said Carney, “wants to have a productive and constructive conversation about where we are” with McConnell.
