After receiving a tip to Catherine Greig’s location, the FBI captured James “Whitey” Bulger and his longtime girlfriend, Catherine Greig, in Santa Monica, California on Wednesday evening. The arrest ends a 16-year-long international pursuit of the notorious Boston crime lord.
A longtime resident of the “FBI’s Top Ten most Wanted List”, Bulger’s arrest resulted from redoubled FBI efforts to find his longtime companion, Greig, who disappeared alongside him. The FBI focused primarily on Public Service Announcements during daytime television to attract the attention of women who possibly saw her in their daily lives.
Although investigators found a cache of weapons at the residence, the arrest occurred without incident or violence.
The fugitives are scheduled to appear inside a Los Angeles courtroom later today.
