Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid dislocated his shoulder and suffered minor injuries after he slipped and fell in the Washington, D.C. downpour.
The Associated Press reports that Reid spokesman Jon Summers said the top Senate Democrat was admitted to George Washington University Hospital, just blocks from his home, to be treated for a dislocated shoulder and contusion over his left eye. Reid was later released.
Summers said Reid was headed out to exercise when he placed his hand on a wet surface and slipped. The spokesman indicated that Reid would be back to work as usual on Wednesday.
In Reid’s absence, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) took his place to begin Wednesday’s Senate proceedings.
