Former President George W. Bush declined President Barack Obama’s invitation to accompany him to Ground Zero In New York City Thursday.
A Bush spokesman said the former president “appreciated” the gesture and would join in celebration but would not attend. A source told Politico that Bush had “chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight.”
Obama also extended an invitation to former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, but no word as to whether he has accepted.
