A number of Republicans released statements Thursday criticizing President Obama’s Mideast policy speech for being too hard on Israel, and not hard enough on Palestine.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said that Obama “failed to articulate a serious plan” for achieving peace between the two sides. Cantor said that the approach outlined by the President would weaken Israel’s ability to defend itself.
2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney said that Obama has “disrespected” Israel, and “has thrown Israel under the bus.”
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee said “the President needs to worry less about the borders of Israel and start securing the borders of the United States.”
Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) called Obama “ideologically purblind” and “naive.”
