Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) will not seek a seat in the United States Senate, according to the National Journal.
Sources indicated that after Ryan makes this announcement later Tuesday afternoon, former Wisconsin Republican Governor Tommy Thompson is expected to announce is candidacy for departing Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl’s seat in the upper chamber.
Thompson served as Health and Human Services Secretary under former President George W.. Bush’s presidency and was Wisconsin Governor from 1987 to 2001.
