While President Obama heads to Alabama to observe the damage wreaked by a slew of tornadoes, Texas Governor Rick Perry is criticizing the White House for ignoring his state’s wildfires.
“You have to ask, ‘Why are you taking care of Alabama and other states?’” Perry told reporters Friday, according to Reuters.
Texas asked the White House to declare an emergency in the state earlier this month, a move that would have allocated federal funds to help the state deal with the crisis.
“I know our letter didn’t get lost in the mail,” Perry quipped.
