Libyan rebels may be receiving more assistance from the United States in the coming days.
According to the Associated Press, the Obama administration plans to grant Libyan opposition with $25 million in non-lethal assistance. The White House informed Congress that Obama plans to use his “drawdown authority” to offer the assistance from surplus American goods.
“There is an urgency in providing these commodities,” a State Department notice read.
The assistance provided would include cash and possibly weapons and ammunition. Vehicles and portable fuselage tanks were also considered but were removed from the list after it was determined they could be used as offensive military assets.
