President Barack Obama is scheduled to attend the final April 29 launch of the space shuttle Endeavour, according to a report filed by the Orlando Sentinel.
Obama, who will already be in Florida for a commencement speech at Miami Dade College, will be accompanied by the first family at the launch scheduled at 3:47 p.m. He will be the first sitting president to attend a Kennedy Space Center launch since Bill Clinton did in 1998.
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), who suffered a gunshot wound to the head during an assassination attempt in January, is also expected to attend the launch to watch her husband, Endeavour commander Mark Kelly, lead the crew of six into space.
