Real-estate mogul and potential 2012 presidential hopeful Donald Trump told the Wall Street Journal that he would “probably” run as an Independent if he does not pick up the Republican nomination.

In a recent Wall Street Journal / NBC poll showed Trump tied with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, taking 17 percent of support from likely GOP voters and falling just shy of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney as the party’s front-runner.

“I am very conservative,” Trump told the Journal. “The concern is if I don’t win [the GOP primary] will I run as an independent, and I think the answer is probably yes.”

Trump added that he believed he “could possibly win as an independent.”

“I’m not doing it for any other reason. I like winning,” he said.
