All 32 members of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s cabinet said Tuesday that they plan on heeding calls from angry protestors to resign.
Assad, the country’s authoritarian ruler who has been in power for 11 years, accepted the resignations and, according to Syrian State TV, will address his nation sometime in the next 24 hours.
It is being reported that the current cabinet will continue to run the country until a new government is formed under Assad, who is expected to remain in power.
More than 60 people have died since demonstrations against Assad began on March 18, according to the organization Human Rights Watch.
