Although Alec Baldwin may have poked fun at NPR in a popular Saturday Night Live skit, the actor is supporting the radio network against a Republican campaign to strip its federal funding.

“It’s clear that Republicans in this Congress are more eager than they have ever been to serve up every item on the Far Right’s agenda. And worse, they don’t even have the guts to cop to it,” Baldwin said in an email blast from the progressive group People For the American Way, a group the actor sits on the board of.

The campaign from Republicans gained steam after Conservative prankster James O’Keefe released a video depicting one the network’s executives bad mouthing the conservative tea party movement. In the email, Baldwin described the video as “severely doctored.”
