Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) says he opposes efforts in the House to deny federal funding to Planned Parenthood.
Brown issued a statement on Tuesday in support of the organization, which provides reproductive health planning services to women.
“Given our severe budget problems, I don’t believe any area of the budget is completely immune from cuts. However, the proposal to eliminate all funding for family planning goes too far.”
GOP lawmakers in the House are fighting to prevent federal dollars from going to Planned Parenthood. They argue that the organization provides abortion services.
