No big news from today’s off-camera gaggle with White House press secretary Jay Carney and White House economic advisor Mike Froman.

Froman, who advises President Obama mostly on international issues, previewed Obama’s forthcoming visit to Brazil later this week. He argued that the President ha been extremely tuned in to helping grow America’s economic relationship with South America.

“The president attended the Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago, has been to Mexico, of course, has been engaged with leaders across the region,” Froman said. “I think he has been deeply engaged across the region, and this gives him an opportunity to go there again.”

Froman added that U.S. exports to South America are higher nowadays, and would increase even more once Congress approves a key free trade agreement with Colombia.
