Richard Trumka, the President of the AFL-CIO, said something on Thursday that opened some eyes.

He thanked Wisconsin’s Republican Governor, Scott Walker, for passing a controversial bill last night that limits the collective bargaining rights of the state’s employees.

Trumka, whose organization represents the largest federation of unions in America,  said that the actions of Walker and other Republicans in the Wisconsin House and Senate have galvanized support across the country for unions.

“Thank you, Scott Walker,” Trumka exclaimed during a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. “We should have invited him here today to receive the Mobilizer of the Year award!”
