A bill that is on the brink of passing the Wisconsin state legislature drew scorn from President Obama on Thursday.
Obama told a Milwaukee television station that the bill, which would curtail public employees’ pensions and benefits in an effort to reduce the state’s budget shortfall, “seems like more of an assault on unions.”
Though hundreds of protestors, including teachers and students, have clogged the halls of the state capitol in an attempt to pressure lawmakers into opposing the measure, the bill appears poised to pass through the Republican-controlled Senate.
