Freshly ousted Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold (D) is making his return to the political scene via Progressives United, a PAC aimed at combatting the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision.
“The Supreme Court handed down one of the most lawless decisions in the history of our country,” Feingold said in a video statement on the newly launched site. “In one fell swoop, the Court not only overturned a hundred years of settled law, but it also set a dangerous new precedent for our democracy.”
Feingold is perhaps best known as a champion of campaign finance reform. In 2002, he co-sponsored the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
He lost to Republican Ron Johnson in the 2010 mid-term elections.
