The Democratic party announced Tuesday that it will be holding its 2012 convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“Charlotte is a city marked by its southern charm, warm hospitality, and an ‘up by the bootstraps’ mentality that has propelled the city forward as one of the fastest-growing in the South,” a statement sent by Obama’s campaign arm Organizing For America read.

Republicans announced last year that they will be holding their convention in Tampa, Florida.
