Turns out Attorney General Eric Holder may have known about the controversial Fast and Furious operation as early as July 2010, according to new documents obtained by CBS News.
In May of this year, Holder told lawmakers that he had only heard of Fast and Furious in recent weeks prior to his testimony, but Justice Department documents show that Holder was sent a memo about the operation on July 5, 2010 and received additional subsequent memos precluding his Hill appearance earlier this year.
The Justice Department told CBS News that the attorney general misunderstood the committee’s question and that he did, in fact know about Fast and Furious, but was in the dark about the details of the operation.
