Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Recently reiterated her party’s commitment to closing the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center. This comes shortly after President Obama signed a bill that is contrary to that commitment.
“We are absolutely committed to closing Guantanamo,” Clinton reported to Politico. “It’s turned out to be a lot more challenging than we had hoped when we set that goal.”
The “challenging” aspects Clinton is referring to include a bill President Obama signed into law earlier this month. The bill reduced Pentagon funding being used to move Gitmo prisoners from Cuba to the United States.
