A tax bill that hit the House floor Thursday which essentially extends the Bush-era tax cuts for families making less than $250,000 was overwhelmingly passed in a 234-188 vote.

The bill was criticized by Congressional Republicans who said the legislation was a political move by Democrats aimed at pushing conservative lawmakers into a corner.

The bill now moves to the Senate for another vote of approval where it will likely die after 42 Senate Republicans publicly stated they will prevent a final vote on any legislation until tax cuts are extended for all Americans.
