The Transportation Security Administration is responding to mounting controversy surrounding new security measures through their blog.
A post that appeared on the TSA’s site Thursday purports to address “myths and facts” about both body scanners and the alternative pat-down procedure.
The blog emphasizes that children under 12 receive a modified pat-down and the complaints regarding the procedure have been limited. It also says that the scanners have been shown to be safe and also stresses their effectiveness in detecting powdered explosives.
