The Senate will hold a vote today to determine who will take leadership roles, with current party leaders Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) likely keeping their roles.
According to Politico, Reid will place Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) in a newly created role overseeing Democrats’ communication efforts.
On Wednesday, the House, which changed parties amid the midterm elections, will vote for their leaders. Current Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will likely assume the position of Minority Leader with Hoyer stepping in as Whip. John Boehner (R-Ohio), the highest ranking Republican in the House, will presumably become the new Speaker and current Minority Whip Eric Cantor will ascend to Majority Leader.
