While the ethics trial of embattled Representative Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) is facing much media scrutiny, a high-profile Republican’s legal struggle is taking place under the radar.

The prosecution’s role in the weeks-long trial for former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tx.) is drawing to a close years after the leader, nicknamed “The Hammer,” was accused of money laundering and conspiracy charges. DeLay, who maintains his innocence, allegedly funneled nearly $200,000 through his Political Action Committee for state races.

According to the AP, prosecutors are expected to close their case by highlighting a 2003 redistricting fight in the state, a struggle that they are expected to portray as DeLay’s motive.
