With her days as House Speaker coming to a close, Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Wednesday touted the benefits that her party secured on behalf of veterans.
“I am very proud of the work that was done in the Congress for our veterans,” Pelosi said during the groundbreaking ceremony for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial Groundbreaking.
Pelosi cited the Post 9/11 Bill, which expanded access to housing education for veterans and their families.
“These accomplishments are bigger than anything since the original GI Bill of 1944,” Pelosi said.
Pelosi, who will likely become the new Minority Leader following Democratic losses in the House, added that her party will lead the fight against the privatization of veteran’s health benefits.
