Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement on Tom Donilon, who was tapped Friday to replace General James L. Jones as National Security Adviser:

“Tom Donilon has provided critical advice to Presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.  No one is better prepared to take over the vital job of national security adviser at this critical moment in history than Tom.  I have great confidence that he will continue to provide President Obama with wise advice and counsel and I look forward to continuing to work closely with Tom and his team at the National Security Council.
