The State Department has condemned a new tabloid in Uganda that urges violence against the country’s gays.

“This is contrary to fundamental human decency,” State Department spokesperson Mark Toner told reporters Thursday. “Improved respect for human rights which are indivisible is paramount to Uganda’s long-term stability and development.”

The tabloid, named Rolling Stone but holding no relation to the similarly titled American magazine, calls for the execution of “Uganda’s top homos.”

Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda and a bill was introduced was introduced this year with the aim of punishing it by death.
