UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) today launched “The State of World Population 2010: From Conflict and Crisis to Renewal: Generations of Change.” The report highlights a decade old UN Security Council commitment which calls on all governments to protect women from rape during conflict, and to utilize the role of women to build peace.
Barbara Crossette, former New York Times chief, authored the report which underscores what has been accomplished to date to mitigate disaster clean-up in conflict affected and politically unstable regions including Haiti, Bosnia, Uganda, East Timor, Liberia and Gaza.
