Although the National Organization For Women has chosen to endorse Democratic candidate Jerry Brown in California’s gubernatorial race, the women’s rights group is insisting that Brown fire a staffer who called Meg Whitman, his opponent, a “whore” during a conference call last month.

NOW calls on Brown, from this point forward, to fire any member of his staff who uses this word or any hate speech against women,”  Terry O’Neill, the organization’s President, said in a statement released Wednesday.

During a debate Tuesday, Brown apologized for the remark, but the identity of the staffer has not been released, nor has their been any report that they have left the campaign. There have been some rumblings that the comment came from Brown’s wife.
