Ryan Rolls Out Major Healthcare Reform Proposal

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) today will unveil his latest idea to alter the nation’s health insurance system as a means of reducing costs over time.

As CNN Fortune reports, the pillar of Ryan’s newest proposal involves shifting the responsibility of providing health coverage from employers to employees.

Ryan, who chairs the House Budget Committee, will argue that the government would be able to generate more revenue by offering tax credits to employees to purchase their own insurance plans, which would be subject to tax.

Currently, most employee benefits, including health insurance, are not taxed. Tune in here at 1:00 pm EST to watch Ryan present his plan.

In a speech at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, Ryan referred to his proposal as a “complete reform agenda.”
