Today’s big government creates big controversies and lots of name-calling because the stakes are so high—just like the spending.
So maybe it’s no big deal when one politician calls another one a coward. Or maybe it is when a woman levels that accusation against a man.
The governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, has called out President Obama. She says the President is cowardly for trying to dance around what his Administration is doing to her state. The National Labor Relations Board is suing the Boeing Company for building a plant in South Carolina, supposedly in retaliation for union problems that Boeing had in Washington State.
There’s no doubt that the lawsuit is an outrageous abuse of power, and there’s no doubt that Obama shouldn’t try to duck responsibility. But does dodging the issue make him a coward? I suppose that’s in the eye of the beholder.
