New EPA regulations are killing jobs—and without any real benefit to the environment.
The latest new air pollution rule is barely a month old but already claiming job casualties. Operators of two Texas power plants say they must shut down and layoff 500 people.
The EPA claims it will save 34-thousand lives. But, no, they didn’t actually identify anybody who died while these power plants operated for decades. That’s just a number the EPA has come up with. The plants were considered safe and in compliance until the EPA changed the rules in July.
These 500 jobs lost could be the first of many. The new EPA regulations are creating new costs and burdens for power plants in 27 states. Others—like these two in Texas—must also decide whether it’s either too expensive or just plain impossible to comply with the orders from EPA’s bureaucracy.
