During an appearance Friday on the Fox Business Network, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin recommended cutting foreign aid as a way to balance the nation’s budget.

“Foreign aid … shouldn’t be some sort of Holy Grail,” Palin said.

Palin, who ran as the Republican Vice Presidential nominee in 2008, noted that the U.S. should “pull back.”

The recommendation comes as both parties struggle to make deep cuts. The White House’s budget proposal is scheduled to come out next week.
