Controlled burns of oil on Gulf waters, flights spraying the disperant chemical Corexit 9500, booming
operations, and all beach clean-up efforts came to a halt Tuesday due to tropical storm Alex. A BP
employee stated, “Today more oil is expected to be pushed ashore along the Mississippi coast
and other coastal areas due to 4 foot seas and strong gusty winds created by tropical storm Alex.
It may be several days before all clean-up efforts are resumed.”
