Top National And Homeland Security Officials Pledge Increased Cooperation To Combat Terrorism

Top members of the Obama administration’s national and homeland security team promised greater interagency cooperation Thursday to counter terrorist threats, such as the attempted attack onboard flight 253 Christmas day.

“I told the president today, I let him down,” said John Brennan, a Deputy National Security Advisor. “I will do better. We will do better as a team.”

The advisor’s pledge came shortly after President Obama promised improved security measures aimed at bolstering government agencies’ ability to share information.

In addition to improved data integration, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano touched upon a number of measures her department intends to take to improve airline security, including strengthened screening measures and the ultimate development of international security standards at all airports.
