U.S. medical personnel have treated over 5,000 Haitians since Sunday, Captain Andy Stevemer, Commander of the Incident Response Coordination Team National Disaster Medical System, told reporters Wednesday.

“We are working as quickly as possible to meet the tremendous medical needs here in Haiti,” said Stevemer.

Relief efforts thus far have included approximately 270 medical personnel from the U.S, but the arrival of the U.S.N Comfort Wednesday morning brought upwards of 600 more medical professionals. Stevemer was unsure if there were any additional casualties caused by yesterday's aftershock.
