Labor Secretary Hilda Solis announced Wednesday that nearly $500 million in grants have been awarded by the Department of Labor towards economic recovery and the development of green jobs throughout the country.
$190 of grants will be devoted to State Energy Sector Partnership and Training Grants and $25 million will be reserved for communities most effected by auto industry redevelopment.
These grants will help develop better job training opportunities to enable workers to gain better positions, especially those in green industries
“This investment continues to lay the groundwork to provide good jobs for everyone and puts our country on a path for a clean energy future that works for all Americans,” said Labor Secretary Hilda Solis during a conference call with reporters.
