D.C. Mayor Calls For Volunteers To Aid Haitian Embassy
D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty called for qualified volunteers Tuesday to help man a new relief center inside the Haiti Embassy to coordinate donations and help locate missing family members.
The call center is intended to run twelve hours a day and the embassy will provide volunteers training on how to direct calls efficiently.
Although the Embassy received over 2,000 bags of goods from the public last Sunday, Haitian Ambassador Raymond Acide Joseph stressed the importance of donating cash since it can be immediately directed where needed most.
“All of us should put our hands together, whatever it takes, let’s get it done,” said the ambassador.
