House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) told reporters Monday that the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act will pass through the House by Veterans Day.
I'm confident the bill will prevail, and prevail before Veterans Day," said Hoyer during an early morning pen and pad session. "Our intention [is] either Friday or Saturday to have this bill on the floor."
On whether the bill includes the allowance of federal dollars to be spent to fund abortions, Hoyer said, “we’re still working on that.”
“[I’m] pretty confident that we can get there essentially making it very clear that any money spent on the issue of termination of pregnancy will be spent not by the government, but by the individuals,” he added.
Hoyer added that he is constrained by his and Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) pledge to give a 72 hour window for lawmakers and the public to read the bill prior to a vote.
