A Modest Drawdown Would Have Also Presented Risks To The U.S., Says Mullen
During an appearance Thursday before the House Armed Services Committee, Admiral Michael Mullen, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that choosing to keep a higher level of troops would have presented risks as well, such as bolstering the Taliban’s morale, allowing the Karzai government to grow more dependent and limiting America’s military mobility.
