William L. Wascher of the Federal Reserve System discusses the effects of the minimum wage on income distribution.

William L. Wascher, deputy associate director in The Division of Research and Statistics at the Board of Governors of The Federal Reserve System discussess the issue of whether to raise the minimum wage goes beyond
employment, but questions of income distribution are also of critical
importance. In attempting to determine whether the minimum wage has a
positive redistributive effect, they found that it either had no
effect on ameliorating poverty or, beyond that, worsened it.
